Monster Jugs
I have been LOVING all things monster this season. We have been reading the book Go Away, Big Green Monster over and over again in my kindergarten classroom. This book is one of my all-time favorites and my students are falling in love with the story as well. The monster in the story was the inspiration for these adorable treat jugs.
Let me tell, you, these are SO simple to make! Just take an old 1-gallon milk jug that has been thoroughly washed and dried. Use a box cutter to cut a hole in the back and then use white glue to cover the jug with crepe paper (the fun thing is that monsters can be any color so get creative!) Add a collection of googly eyes and a mouth made from construction paper. As a finishing touch, place several thin strips of crepe paper into the hole at the top of the jug for hair and glue in place. Voila! Cutest treat jugs ever. It's an added bonus that they are durable and have a built-in handle.
My kindergarten students have 7th Grade Buddies that we meet with throughout the year. The 7th Graders will help each of my students create a monster jug to prepare for our Halloween party. I love this project because my only job is to cut a hole in the back of each child's jug and their buddy handles the rest!

Quick and Easy Party Game
I love incorporating BINGO into all of my classroom celebrations. Playing BINGO with holiday-themed images is too much of a waste of time for me to justify (every single moment is valuable in a half day class). Instead, I use a regular BINGO set (such as color word BINGO or Numbers in the Teens BINGO) and jazz it up with cute seasonal foam shapes. Children use the foam shapes as BINGO markers to cover up their board as the game is played. (For Halloween, I dig out my spooky foam shapes.) The kids love playing a game with the fun foam shapes and I love that they are learning something while they have fun. It's win-win!

Halloween + Reading = Fun!
I created a cute Halloween-themed booklet Kindergarten students to read. It's an interactive book called What Will I be for Halloween? and features the sight word "be". On each page of the book, students cut out, unscramble, and glue the letters to spell "be". Each page also features an image of a student dressed in a Halloween costume to support the text. I love this little book!
